Tourism In Swabi

People from near and far visit Swabi to experience its beauty, rich culture and hospitality. Bellow is a list of places in Swabi that you must visit.

  • Tarbela Dam: The largest mud dam of the world.

​

  • Kund Park: A famous Resort and National Park. The Indus and Kabul Rivers meet here and is a major tourist attraction. The Indus River with its blue colour and the Kabul River's muddy brown waters flow side by side without blending.

  • Mahaban: Located in Gadoon has a scenic beauty. The Pir Galai resort is located here is 6,000 feet (1,800 m) above the sea level. The beauty of this place can easily be compared to the beauty of Kashmir. It is home to beautiful tall mountains, pine trees and crystal clear springs. From here one can see Mansehra, Buner and Kaghan hills.

  • The Fort of Hund: This is an ancient fort situated on the right bank of River Indus. It was built by Moria Emperors before the birth of Crist. This was a gateway to India. All conquerors like "Alexender The Great" crossed the River Indus at this point. Hund is an archaeological treasure as it was the capital of the Hindu and Turk Shahi for nearly three hundred years.

  • Rani Ghat: It is a Gandhara archaeological site located further deep in the mountainous area. Rani Ghat is the famous historical palace on the top of mountain used by the Queen of that era. She was famous for buying the fresh air coming from Swabi side. She paid the villagers for clean air, they were not allowed to pollute it by blowing the crops in the air for cleaning purpose. The ruins are still a famous place for visitors. As a part of the origin of Buddhist Gandhara civilisation, it has also attracted re-construction funds from Japanese research institutes. With the help of Japanese funds, the local NGO Shewa Educated Social Workers Association (SESWA), built a walkway to the historical sites and built fences to protect the area. It also built a mountain rest house on Baga mountain which is a popular tourist site. This area attracted many tourists including Japanese, who came here for studies in the ancient times to learn about Buddhism.

  • Karamar Mountain: Visitors come to the village of Shera Ghund (situated along Shewa Adda) and climb Karamar Mountain in the town of Kalu Khan to visit the tomb of Yousaf Khan from the famous folk love story of Yousaf Khan & Sherbano.
